What is a Chiropractic Adjustment?

A chiropractic adjustment is a manipulation applied to the spinal column to restore proper alignment, reduce or eliminate pain, improve the patient’s mobility, strengthen surrounding muscles, and resolve ongoing health issues.

Chiropractic adjustment may be prescribed in conjunction with physical therapy, massage therapy, and other forms of treatment, or it may be utilized on its own.

Chiropractic manipulation can be used for a variety of ailments, including:

  • Headaches and migraines
  • Upper and lower back pain
  • Neck pain
  • Arthritis
  • Arm and leg pain
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Muscle spasms
  • Chronic pain

In some cases, underlying deep-tissue injuries cause joints to become hypomobile, creating and compounding chronic pain. These injuries may be caused by a single traumatic accident, or through ongoing repetitive stress.

In both cases, these injuries can cause inflammation, pain, and reduced flexibility and mobility. Spinal adjustment restores proper alignment and increases the space between joints, encouraging blood flow and speeding up healing and recovery of injured tissues.

Spinal Decompression Therapy

At Rush Chiropractic and Rehab, we specialize in spinal decompression therapy, a technique that gently lengthens and decompresses the spine, creating negative pressures within the discs.

This computerized traction unit creates an intradiscal vacuum that not only takes pressure off of pinched nerves, but helps to reposition bulging discs and pull extruded disc material back into place.

Pembroke Pines Chiropractor Team

What to Expect at Your First Visit to a Pembroke Pines Chiropractor

Dr. Rush will begin by asking questions about your medical history and the problem you’re seeking treatment for and will conduct a physical exam.

At Rush Chiropractic, we perform comprehensive neurological, orthopedic, and spinal exams to guide our treatment strategy. We may also recommend additional tests, including X-rays which are performed in our office, or an MRI, when it’s appropriate.

During your treatment, Dr. Rush will apply careful, controlled pressure to the affected joints, restoring proper alignment. They may adjust you by hand or use a handheld instrument called Activator.
